“Europe… It’s the Way of the Future”
Gilles Duceppe talks to Strombo (George Strombolopolis) about how he views Quebec’s future, on CBC’s The Hour. Uploaded April 8, 2010.
Gilles Duceppe is a “former” Marxist-Leninist-Maoist who led the federal Bloc Québécois from June 10 to October 22, 2015: (4 months and 12 days). The Bloc was created at the federal level by federal politicians who crossed the floor to sit as independents and/or then crossed again to form the Bloc, a federal counterpart to the provincial Parti Québécois, claiming to promote “sovereignty” for Quebec. The Bloc never ran candidates outside Quebec.
As can be seen in this video clip, Duceppe advocates the European Union system for Canada, but in such a way that his listeners don’t catch on that this is precisely what Quebecers voted on, twice, in 1980 and 1995, and not at all on Quebec “sovereignty”.
